TOPICAL INFORMATION

After graduating from the Academy for the Arts (AKI) in Enschede (1984), The Netherlands, Hetty van der Kloot's main interest was three-dimensional work with transparent and/or reflective material.

She lived and worked for many years in the Netherlands, Canada, Russia, Argentina and the United Kingdom and frequently participated in solo and group exhibitions. Now she lives and works in the Netherlands.

During the end of the nineties she took a two-year course in Computer Aided Arts and Graphics in the U.K.

In 2007 and 2008 she participated in several video master classes at the WBK-Vrije Academie, The Hague, The Netherlands, organized by Tom van Vliet of the World Wide Video Festival.

The computer became her most important working-tool. She uses the computer as a microscope and telescope at (almost) the same time. The original video's and/or photographs she takes are being scrutinized, reproduced, stretched and interacted with one another. Her work involves a process in nature. Decay, reborn in itself or interference by outside forces. The end product of her works are either short videos or compilations printed on e.g. paper, canvas or silk.
